China dominates exports structure, accounting for X tons, which was near 70% of total exports in 2021. South Korea (X tons) held a 9.6% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by India (8.9%) and Japan (8.4%).

These countries were followed by Thailand, China, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, Taiwan (Chinese) and Vietnam, which together accounted for a further 44%.

In terms of the main importing countries, Pakistan, with a CAGR of +28.1%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 14% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.4%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the import price increased by 16%. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
