Exports by Country
The shipments of the four major exporters of black printing ink, namely Japan, India, Singapore and South Korea, represented more than two-thirds of total export. Turkey (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total exports with a 7% share, followed by China (6.7%) and the Philippines (5.6%).
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for the Philippines (with a CAGR of +41.8%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Japan ($X) remains the largest black printing ink supplier in Asia, comprising 41% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Singapore ($X), with a 20% share of total exports. It was followed by India, with a 7.6% share.
In Japan, black printing ink exports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Singapore (+3.3% per year) and India (-3.9% per year).

The export price in Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, shrinking by -3.6% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 9.4%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2021, and then reduced modestly in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per ton), while India ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+2.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, black printing ink imports dropped modestly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 12% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
The countries with the highest levels of black printing ink imports in 2022 were Singapore (X tons), Malaysia (X tons), the Philippines (X tons), India (X tons), Turkey (X tons), Indonesia (X tons), Thailand (X tons), Vietnam (X tons), China (X tons), Japan (X tons), Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) and the United Arab Emirates (X tons), together amounting to 79% of total import. Bangladesh (X tons) held a little share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by the Philippines (with a CAGR of +8.0%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest black printing ink importing markets in Asia were China ($X), Singapore ($X) and India ($X), together accounting for 33% of total imports. The Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Turkey, Japan, Vietnam, Taiwan (Chinese), the United Arab Emirates and Bangladesh lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 54%.
Vietnam, with a CAGR of +12.0%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, dropping by -5.7% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.2%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the import price increased by 11% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2021, and then declined in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while Bangladesh ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Taiwan (Chinese) (+6.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
