The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 20% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units, and then declined in the following year.
In value terms, ceramic sanitary ware exports amounted to $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 26%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Turkey prevails in exports structure, amounting to X units, which was near 71% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by China (X units), India (X units) and Thailand (X units), together making up a 22% share of total exports. The United Arab Emirates (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Exports from Turkey increased at an average annual rate of +9.2% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, China (+19.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, China emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia, with a CAGR of +19.0% from 2012-2022. By contrast, India (-2.5%), Thailand (-7.9%) and the United Arab Emirates (-14.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Turkey (+32 p.p.) and China (+7.3 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while India, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates saw its share reduced by -5.3%, -10.9% and -12.7% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.
In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest ceramic sanitary ware supplier in Asia, comprising 67% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by China ($X), with a 15% share of total exports. It was followed by Thailand, with a 6.4% share.
In Turkey, ceramic sanitary ware exports increased at an average annual rate of +6.4% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: China (+17.5% per year) and Thailand (-8.0% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Asia amounted to $X per unit, picking up by 7.6% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the export price increased by 20%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2015 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per unit), while India ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+11.0%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in Asia
In 2022, purchases abroad of ceramic sinks, baths, water closet pans and similar sanitary fixtures decreased by -20.9% to X units, falling for the second consecutive year after three years of growth. Overall, imports showed a perceptible curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 12%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, ceramic sanitary ware imports expanded slightly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a perceptible curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 37% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2022, India (X units), distantly followed by Kazakhstan (X units), the United Arab Emirates (X units), Thailand (X units), Singapore (X units), Iraq (X units) and Cambodia (X units) were the largest importers of ceramic sinks, baths, water closet pans and similar sanitary fixtures, together achieving 67% of total imports. Turkey (X units), Lao People's Democratic Republic (X units), Nepal (X units), Jordan (X units), Lebanon (X units) and Kyrgyzstan (X units) held a relatively small share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Thailand (with a CAGR of +24.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, India ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported ceramic sinks, baths, water closet pans and similar sanitary fixtures in Asia, comprising 35% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 7.6% share of total imports. It was followed by Turkey, with a 7.4% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in India stood at +5.9%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Kazakhstan (-2.9% per year) and Turkey (+14.1% per year).
