In value terms, ceramic statuette exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
China was the main exporter of ceramic statuettes and other ornamental articles in Asia, with the volume of exports recording X tons, which was near 73% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Vietnam (X tons), mixing up a 20% share of total exports. The following exporters - Thailand (X tons) and the Philippines (X tons) - each resulted at a 3.5% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to ceramic statuette exports from China stood at -1.2%. At the same time, the Philippines (+3.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the Philippines emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia, with a CAGR of +3.5% from 2012-2021. Vietnam experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Thailand (-2.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Vietnam (+1.8 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest ceramic statuette supplier in Asia, comprising 77% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Vietnam ($X), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by the Philippines, with a 1.7% share.
In China, ceramic statuette exports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Vietnam (+4.1% per year) and the Philippines (+7.2% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in Asia amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 6.9% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.1%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 12%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2016 to 2021, the the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was the Philippines ($X per ton), while Vietnam ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Thailand (+8.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Asia
In 2021, overseas purchases of ceramic statuettes and other ornamental articles were finally on the rise to reach X tons for the first time since 2014, thus ending a six-year declining trend. Overall, imports, however, showed a slight contraction. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, ceramic statuette imports surged to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
The purchases of the six major importers of ceramic statuettes and other ornamental articles, namely Saudi Arabia, India, Israel, the United Arab Emirates, Malaysia and Japan, represented more than half of total import. Turkey (X tons), South Korea (X tons), China (X tons), Thailand (X tons), Kazakhstan (X tons), Singapore (X tons) and Vietnam (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in India (with a CAGR of +9.2%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Japan ($X), Saudi Arabia ($X) and Israel ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 36% share of total imports. These countries were followed by the United Arab Emirates, India, South Korea, China, Turkey, Malaysia, Singapore, Kazakhstan, Vietnam and Thailand, which together accounted for a further 44%.
Malaysia, with a CAGR of +14.4%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, remaining stable against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.6%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 7.6% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2020, and then shrank slightly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per ton), while Malaysia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+8.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
