In 2021, cereal germ exports in Asia fell notably to X tons, with a decrease of -23.2% against 2020. Overall, exports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 74%. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, cereal germ exports fell significantly to $X in 2021. In general, exports continue to indicate a noticeable downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 46% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Indonesia prevails in exports structure, amounting to X tons, which was near 81% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by India (X tons), achieving a 5% share of total exports. The following exporters - Kazakhstan (X tons), Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) and China (X tons) - each recorded a 9.2% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to cereal germ exports from Indonesia stood at +2.3%. At the same time, India (+5.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, India emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia, with a CAGR of +5.7% from 2012-2021. China and Taiwan (Chinese) experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Kazakhstan (-17.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Indonesia (+19 p.p.) and India (+2.2 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Kazakhstan saw its share reduced by -14.4% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Indonesia ($X) remains the largest cereal germ supplier in Asia, comprising 60% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by India ($X), with a 13% share of total exports. It was followed by China, with a 6.2% share.
In Indonesia, cereal germ exports shrank by an average annual rate of -2.8% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: India (+9.0% per year) and China (+1.8% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 9.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a pronounced setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 18% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was India ($X per ton), while Indonesia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (+5.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, cereal germ imports in Asia skyrocketed to X tons, picking up by 31% compared with the previous year's figure. Total imports indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +9.7% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +64.0% against 2018 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Turkey dominates imports structure, amounting to X tons, which was approx. 95% of total imports in 2021. South Korea (X tons) took a minor share of total imports.
Imports into Turkey increased at an average annual rate of +9.4% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, South Korea (+30.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, South Korea emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Asia, with a CAGR of +30.0% from 2012-2021. South Korea (+2.3 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Turkey saw its share reduced by -2% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.
In value terms, Turkey ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported cereal germ in Asia, comprising 94% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by South Korea ($X), with a 2.4% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Turkey totaled +8.6%.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Asia amounted to $X per ton, growing by 39% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a slight slump. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per ton), while South Korea amounted to $X per ton.
