In value terms, non-wheat cereal pellets exports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, exports posted resilient growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 135% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
Exports by Country
The shipments of the three major exporters of cereal pellets (excluding wheat), namely India, China and Turkey, represented more than two-thirds of total export. The following exporters - the United Arab Emirates (X tons), Malaysia (X tons) and Indonesia (X tons) - each reached a 6.2% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for the United Arab Emirates (with a CAGR of +40.7%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, China ($X), India ($X) and Turkey ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined 83% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Malaysia, Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates, which together accounted for a further 11%.
The United Arab Emirates, with a CAGR of +42.8%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in Asia amounted to $X per ton, growing by 2.9% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.7%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the export price increased by 30%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2017 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($X per ton), while Turkey ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (+6.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, overseas purchases of cereal pellets (excluding wheat) were finally on the rise to reach X tons after three years of decline. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a abrupt curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 148% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, non-wheat cereal pellets imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a mild shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 62%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Japan (X tons) and Turkey (X tons) represented roughly 46% of total imports in 2021. Singapore (X tons) held a 13% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by the United Arab Emirates (8.3%) and Myanmar (7.5%). The following importers - the Philippines (X tons), Kuwait (X tons), Iraq (X tons), Kazakhstan (X tons) and Yemen (X tons) - together made up 16% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Singapore (with a CAGR of +23.5%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Japan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported cereal pellets (excluding wheat) in Asia, comprising 36% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Turkey ($X), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by Singapore, with a 14% share.
In Japan, non-wheat cereal pellets imports increased at an average annual rate of +19.0% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Turkey (+7.3% per year) and Singapore (+14.5% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 16% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a resilient increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the import price increased by 95% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices attained the peak figure in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Kuwait ($X per ton), while Kazakhstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
