In value terms, helicopter imports totaled $X in 2022. Total imports indicated perceptible growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +33.1% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 60% against the previous year. Taiwan (Chinese) represented the major importer of civil helicopters in Asia, with the volume of imports resulting at X units, which was approx. 39% of total imports in 2022. Taiwan (Chinese) was also the fastest-growing in terms of the civil helicopters imports, with a CAGR of +46.9% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Iraq (+18.9%), South Korea (+17.0%), the Philippines (+13.8%), Thailand (+11.9%) and Malaysia (+6.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. India experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, China (-2.5%), Japan (-6.0%), Singapore (-6.2%), the United Arab Emirates (-7.2%), Indonesia (-9.5%) and Oman (-10.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Taiwan (Chinese), South Korea, the Philippines, Iraq and Thailand increased by +38, +2.9, +2.4, +2 and +1.8 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest helicopter importing markets in Asia were China ($X), the Philippines ($X) and India ($X), together comprising 39% of total imports.
In terms of the main importing countries, the Philippines, with a CAGR of +65.5%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in Asia amounted to $X per unit, surging by 33% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 53%. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was India ($X per unit), while Indonesia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
