In 2021, the Asian civil reaction engine market increased by 2.3% to $X for the first time since 2017, thus ending a three-year declining trend. In general, consumption, however, saw a abrupt contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 3.9%. Over the period under review, the market reached the maximum level at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, civil reaction engine exports dropped significantly to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, saw a deep reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when exports increased by 201% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

In 2021, Singapore (X units) represented the key exporter of civil reaction engines, creating 61% of total exports. It was distantly followed by India (X units), Japan (X units) and South Korea (X units), together creating a 32% share of total exports. Saudi Arabia (X units) took a minor share of total exports.

Singapore was also the fastest-growing in terms of the civil reaction engines exports, with a CAGR of +70.4% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, South Korea (+36.1%), India (+12.6%) and Japan (+4.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Saudi Arabia (-17.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. In value terms, South Korea ($X) emerged as the largest civil reaction engine supplier in Asia, comprising 31% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Japan ($X), with a 15% share of total exports. It was followed by Singapore, with a 15% share.

In South Korea, civil reaction engine exports increased at an average annual rate of +47.7% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Japan (-6.0% per year) and Singapore (+12.4% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Asia stood at $X per unit in 2021, which is down by -17.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a prominent expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 466% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2014 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($X per unit), while Singapore ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (+8.5%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

In 2021, overseas purchases of civil reaction engines increased by 172% to X units, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. In general, imports posted a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 201%. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, civil reaction engine imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports enjoyed resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 166% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Sri Lanka (X units) and Indonesia (X units) dominates imports structure, together making up 74% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Qatar (X units), committing a 5.4% share of total imports. The United Arab Emirates (X units), South Korea (X units), Hong Kong SAR (X units), India (X units) and Japan (X units) held a minor share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Sri Lanka (with a CAGR of +173.4%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X), Japan ($X) and Indonesia ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together comprising 81% of total imports. These countries were followed by South Korea, India, Qatar, Sri Lanka and Hong Kong SAR, which together accounted for a further 6.9%.

Sri Lanka, with a CAGR of +169.6%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in Asia amounted to $X per unit, with a decrease of -35.8% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a abrupt decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when the import price increased by 90%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2017 to 2021, the import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per unit), while Sri Lanka ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (+4.4%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
