In 2022, overseas shipments of civil spacecraft, satellites and launch vehicles increased by 1,667% to X units, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. In general, exports continue to indicate a significant expansion. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, spacecraft exports soared to $X in 2022. Overall, exports continue to indicate a prominent increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by 149%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

India dominates exports structure, finishing at X units, which was approx. 94% of total exports in 2022. The following exporters - China (X units) and South Korea (X units) - together made up 5.3% of total exports.
India was also the fastest-growing in terms of the civil spacecraft, satellites and launch vehicles exports, with a CAGR of +241.4% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, China (+109.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, South Korea (-6.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. In value terms, China ($X), South Korea ($X) and India ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, with a combined 72% share of total exports.
Among the main exporting countries, China, with a CAGR of +115.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.

The export price in Asia stood at $X per unit in 2022, falling by -87.9% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a abrupt shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 an increase of 137% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($X per unit), while India ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (+7.1%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Kazakhstan dominates imports structure, recording X units, which was approx. 79% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by China (X units), the Philippines (X units) and Malaysia (X units), together creating a 19% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to spacecraft imports into Kazakhstan stood at -1.7%. At the same time, the Philippines (+360.9%) and Malaysia (+66.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the Philippines emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Asia, with a CAGR of +360.9% from 2012-2022. By contrast, China (-26.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Kazakhstan (+62 p.p.), the Philippines (+6.2 p.p.) and Malaysia (+5.1 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of China (-22.5 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, Malaysia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported civil spacecraft, satellites and launch vehicles in Asia, comprising 38% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by China ($X), with a 3.1% share of total imports. It was followed by the Philippines, with a 0.1% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Malaysia totaled +101.9%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (-30.9% per year) and the Philippines (-45.0% per year).
Import Prices by Country
