The Asian combine harvester market fell modestly to $X in 2022, with a decrease of -1.6% against the previous year. The total consumption indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, consumption decreased by -3.9% against 2020 indices. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, combine harvester production rose modestly to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. The total production indicated a perceptible expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, production decreased by -3.7% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when the production volume increased by 29%. Over the period under review, production hit record highs at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, production remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of combine harvester-threshers, when their volume decreased by -7.9% to X units. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when exports increased by 31% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X units in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.
In value terms, combine harvester exports contracted sharply to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 30% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2021, and then contracted rapidly in the following year.
Exports by Country
In 2022, China (X units) was the major exporter of combine harvester-threshers, comprising 52% of total exports. Thailand (X units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by India (X units). All these countries together took near 42% share of total exports. Japan (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Exports from China increased at an average annual rate of +2.7% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Thailand (+27.9%), India (+10.9%) and Japan (+1.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Thailand emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia, with a CAGR of +27.9% from 2012-2022. Thailand (+20 p.p.) and India (+6.1 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Japan and China saw its share reduced by -1.9% and -24% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.
In value terms, the largest combine harvester supplying countries in Asia were China ($X), Thailand ($X) and Japan ($X), with a combined 94% share of total exports.
In terms of the main exporting countries, Thailand, with a CAGR of +13.9%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Asia stood at $X per unit in 2022, waning by -11.7% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 27% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2019 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per unit), while India ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Japan (+4.3%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in Asia
In 2022, approx. X units of combine harvester-threshers were imported in Asia; which is down by -28.2% compared with the previous year's figure. Overall, imports, however, recorded a strong increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when imports increased by 43%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X units in 2021, and then plummeted in the following year.
In value terms, combine harvester imports declined sharply to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 29%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then declined notably in the following year.
Imports by Country
India represented the major importing country with an import of around X units, which accounted for 38% of total imports. The Philippines (X units) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Bangladesh (X units) and Cambodia (X units). All these countries together held near 23% share of total imports. Turkey (X units), Pakistan (X units), Iraq (X units), South Korea (X units), China (X units), Thailand (X units), Sri Lanka (X units), Kazakhstan (X units) and Lao People's Democratic Republic (X units) held a little share of total imports.
Imports into India increased at an average annual rate of +47.1% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Bangladesh (+80.7%), Lao People's Democratic Republic (+46.3%), Iraq (+13.3%), Thailand (+12.3%), the Philippines (+10.2%), Sri Lanka (+9.6%), Cambodia (+8.0%), Pakistan (+7.0%) and South Korea (+5.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Bangladesh emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Asia, with a CAGR of +80.7% from 2012-2022. Turkey experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, China (-11.0%) and Kazakhstan (-12.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of India (+37 p.p.), Bangladesh (+7.3 p.p.) and the Philippines (+1.9 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Turkey (-4.3 p.p.), Kazakhstan (-13.7 p.p.) and China (-18.4 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Turkey ($X), South Korea ($X) and Cambodia ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 33% share of total imports. India, China, Kazakhstan, Iraq, the Philippines, Bangladesh, Thailand, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Lao People's Democratic Republic lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 41%.
Bangladesh, with a CAGR of +62.1%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Asia stood at $X per unit in 2022, with an increase of 15% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, showed a deep slump. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($X per unit), while Lao People's Democratic Republic ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+6.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
