Overall, exports, however, showed a resilient expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 31% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X units in 2021, and then reduced modestly in the following year.
In value terms, reel cutting slitter exports contracted to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 25% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then fell in the following year.
Exports by Country
China dominates exports structure, finishing at X units, which was approx. 70% of total exports in 2022. Malaysia (X units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Taiwan (Chinese) (X units). All these countries together held approx. 13% share of total exports. Japan (X units), South Korea (X units), Turkey (X units) and Singapore (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Exports from China increased at an average annual rate of +21.8% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Malaysia (+49.5%), Singapore (+16.9%), Turkey (+11.6%) and South Korea (+1.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Malaysia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia, with a CAGR of +49.5% from 2012-2022. Taiwan (Chinese) experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Japan (-7.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. China (+34 p.p.) and Malaysia (+7.2 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while South Korea, Taiwan (Chinese) and Japan saw its share reduced by -5.4%, -13.9% and -17.5% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest reel cutting slitter supplier in Asia, comprising 48% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Malaysia ($X), with a 20% share of total exports. It was followed by Singapore, with a 5.8% share.
In China, reel cutting slitter exports expanded at an average annual rate of +10.7% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Malaysia (+55.5% per year) and Singapore (+20.6% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Asia amounted to $X per unit, dropping by -2.2% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a perceptible shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 4.9%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($X per unit), while China ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

In 2022, supplies from abroad of combined reel slitting and re-reeling cutting machines for paper and paperboard increased by 5.1% to X units, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 31%. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.
In value terms, reel cutting slitter imports declined to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a mild descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 33% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

The countries with the highest levels of reel cutting slitter imports in 2022 were China (X units), Vietnam (X units), Turkey (X units), India (X units) and Indonesia (X units), together finishing at 65% of total import. It was distantly followed by South Korea (X units), committing a 5.4% share of total imports. The following importers - Thailand (X units), Japan (X units), Bangladesh (X units), the United Arab Emirates (X units), Taiwan (Chinese) (X units), Iran (X units) and Qatar (X units) - together made up 17% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Vietnam (with a CAGR of +16.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, India ($X), China ($X) and Turkey ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together accounting for 40% of total imports. These countries were followed by Vietnam, Thailand, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates, Taiwan (Chinese), Bangladesh, Iran and Qatar, which together accounted for a further 41%.
Vietnam, with a CAGR of +9.4%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Asia stood at $X per unit in 2022, with a decrease of -15.3% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a perceptible slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when the import price increased by 11%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was India ($X per unit), while Qatar ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Taiwan (Chinese) (+3.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
