Over the period under review, consumption, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, consumption reached the peak level of $X. From 2017 to 2022, the growth of the market remained at a lower figure.
Common Pottery Production in Asia
In value terms, common pottery production expanded to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. The total output value increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% over the period from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 27% against the previous year. As a result, production attained the peak level of $X. From 2017 to 2022, production growth failed to regain momentum.

Exports in Asia
In 2022, overseas shipments of common pottery increased by 1.6% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. Total exports indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +28.3% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 26%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, common pottery exports expanded to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +28.7% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 30%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
Exports by Country
In 2022, China (X tons) represented the main exporter of common pottery, making up 53% of total exports. Thailand (X tons) held a 10% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Malaysia (9.1%) and Turkey (8.9%). The following exporters - India (X tons), Uzbekistan (X tons) and Japan (X tons) - each finished at an 11% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to common pottery exports from China stood at +6.2%. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+24.5%), Malaysia (+23.7%), Japan (+18.8%), India (+17.9%) and Turkey (+7.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia, with a CAGR of +24.5% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Thailand (-1.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Malaysia (+7.2 p.p.), Uzbekistan (+3.7 p.p.), China (+3.1 p.p.), India (+2.6 p.p.), Japan (+2.5 p.p.) and Turkey (+1.7 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Thailand (-9.4 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest common pottery supplier in Asia, comprising 59% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Thailand ($X), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by Japan, with a 6.5% share.
In China, common pottery exports increased at an average annual rate of +12.0% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Thailand (+2.8% per year) and Japan (+12.8% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, approximately reflecting the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.1%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 an increase of 14% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per ton), while Malaysia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+5.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Asia
In 2022, imports of common pottery in Asia dropped slightly to X tons, declining by -4.2% against the year before. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 16%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, common pottery imports totaled $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.2% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 20%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
Imports by Country
The purchases of the seven major importers of common pottery, namely Kazakhstan, Japan, South Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Thailand, India and Azerbaijan, represented more than half of total import. Turkey (X tons), Malaysia (X tons), Hong Kong SAR (X tons), Georgia (X tons), the United Arab Emirates (X tons) and the Philippines (X tons) held a relatively small share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Kyrgyzstan (with a CAGR of +23.9%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest common pottery importing markets in Asia were South Korea ($X), Japan ($X) and Hong Kong SAR ($X), together comprising 40% of total imports. Kazakhstan, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, India, the Philippines, Malaysia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Thailand and Kyrgyzstan lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 33%.
Azerbaijan, with a CAGR of +24.9%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, surging by 8.5% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 15%. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($X per ton), while Kyrgyzstan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Philippines (+25.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
