In terms of the main exporting countries, India, with a CAGR of +114.6%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in Asia amounted to $X per ton, almost unchanged from the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Moreover, the United Arab Emirates emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Asia, with a CAGR of +32.0% from 2012-2021. India (+53 p.p.) and the United Arab Emirates (+3.2 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Pakistan, Sri Lanka, South Korea and Iraq saw its share reduced by -1.8%, -2.1%, -14.6% and -17.8% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, India ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported cow peas (dry) in Asia, comprising 52% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Turkey ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates, with a 6.4% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in India amounted to +33.4%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Turkey (+25.7% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (+25.6% per year).
