China experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of truck cranes. At the same time, Turkey (+11.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Turkey emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia, with a CAGR of +11.2% from 2012-2021. South Korea experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Japan (-13.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of China and Turkey increased by +7.9 and +2.6 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest truck crane supplier in Asia, comprising 80% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Turkey ($X), with a 5.7% share of total exports. It was followed by Japan, with a 4.4% share.

In China, truck crane exports shrank by an average annual rate of -4.8% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Turkey (+8.7% per year) and Japan (-19.4% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Asia stood at $X per unit in 2021, picking up by 1.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a deep contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 14% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2019 to 2021, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($X per unit), while South Korea ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (-2.2%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

In 2021, imports of truck cranes in Asia surged to X units, picking up by 31% against 2020 figures. Over the period under review, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, truck crane imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, showed a mild decrease. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2021, the United Arab Emirates (X units), followed by South Korea (X units), Myanmar (X units), Japan (X units), Indonesia (X units), Taiwan (Chinese) (X units), Vietnam (X units) and Israel (X units) represented the largest importers of truck cranes, together constituting 71% of total imports. The following importers - Iraq (X units), Kuwait (X units), Bangladesh (X units), Thailand (X units) and Turkey (X units) - together made up 11% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Vietnam (with a CAGR of +41.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, South Korea ($X), Japan ($X) and the United Arab Emirates ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 36% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Myanmar, Taiwan (Chinese), Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Israel, Turkey, Kuwait, Iraq and Bangladesh, which together accounted for a further 37%.

In terms of the main importing countries, Vietnam, with a CAGR of +39.1%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Asia stood at $X per unit in 2021, approximately equating the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a perceptible decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the import price increased by 8.6%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($X per unit), while Iraq ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Thailand (+13.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
