Overall, exports continue to indicate a resilient increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 104% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, cotton-seed oil exports soared to $X in 2021. In general, exports showed a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 84% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
Exports by Country
In 2021, Uzbekistan (X tons) and Turkmenistan (X tons) represented the major exporters of crude cotton-seed oil in Asia, together generating 69% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Azerbaijan (X tons) and Kazakhstan (X tons), together creating a 27% share of total exports. Turkey (X tons) held a little share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Azerbaijan (with a CAGR of +92.0%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Turkmenistan ($X), Uzbekistan ($X) and Kazakhstan ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined 75% share of total exports. Azerbaijan and Turkey lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 24%.
In terms of the main exporting countries, Turkey, with a CAGR of +92.5%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in Asia amounted to $X per ton, growing by 23% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a noticeable decline. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($X per ton), while Uzbekistan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (+5.1%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in Asia
In 2021, overseas purchases of crude cotton-seed oil decreased by -36.4% to X tons, falling for the second year in a row after three years of growth. Over the period under review, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 56%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, cotton-seed oil imports declined significantly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports recorded a perceptible reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 50% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Kyrgyzstan (X tons), Tajikistan (X tons) and Turkey (X tons) was the key importer of crude cotton-seed oil in Asia, comprising 78% of total import. Uzbekistan (X tons) took the next position in the ranking, distantly followed by Malaysia (X tons). All these countries together took approx. 17% share of total imports. The following importers - Japan (X tons) and Saudi Arabia (X tons) - each resulted at a 3.1% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Turkey (with a CAGR of +43.0%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Kyrgyzstan ($X), Tajikistan ($X) and Turkey ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together accounting for 80% of total imports. These countries were followed by Uzbekistan, Malaysia, Japan and Saudi Arabia, which together accounted for a further 18%.
Among the main importing countries, Saudi Arabia, with a CAGR of +24.4%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 5.8% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a perceptible slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 8.6%. Over the period under review, import prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per ton), while Malaysia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Japan (-0.8%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
