As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country
In 2021, India (X tons) represented the major exporter of direct dyes and preparations based thereon, constituting 62% of total exports. China (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 17% share, followed by Turkey (11%). The following exporters - Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons), Thailand (X tons) and Indonesia (X tons) - together made up 7.6% of total exports.
Exports from India increased at an average annual rate of +9.5% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Indonesia (+40.3%), Turkey (+31.3%) and Thailand (+4.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Indonesia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia, with a CAGR of +40.3% from 2012-2021. China experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Taiwan (Chinese) (-6.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of India (+17 p.p.), Turkey (+9.3 p.p.) and Indonesia (+1.5 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Taiwan (Chinese) (-7 p.p.) and China (-11.8 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, India ($X) remains the largest direct dye supplier in Asia, comprising 54% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by China ($X), with an 18% share of total exports. It was followed by Turkey, with an 8% share.
In India, direct dye exports expanded at an average annual rate of +7.7% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: China (+0.7% per year) and Turkey (+24.1% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, remaining stable against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a perceptible contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 20% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2015 to 2021, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The purchases of the three major importers of direct dyes and preparations based thereon, namely China, Japan and Indonesia, represented more than third of total import. All these countries together took near 33% share of total imports. The following importers - Turkey (X tons), Thailand (X tons), Iran (X tons), Pakistan (X tons) and Malaysia (X tons) - together made up 16% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Iran (with a CAGR of +22.9%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest direct dye importing markets in Asia were Japan ($X), China ($X) and Indonesia ($X), together comprising 43% of total imports. These countries were followed by the Philippines, Vietnam, South Korea, Taiwan (Chinese), Bangladesh, Thailand, Pakistan, Turkey, Iran and Malaysia, which together accounted for a further 48%.
Among the main importing countries, the Philippines, with a CAGR of +37.5%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Asia amounted to $X per ton, surging by 12% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a slight slump. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Philippines ($X per ton), while Iran ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
