In 2021, after three years of decline, there was significant growth in the Asian dolomite market, when its value increased by 8% to $X. In general, consumption continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, dolomite production stood at $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Overall, production showed a relatively flat trend pattern. In 2021, after four years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of dolomite, when their volume decreased by -20.8% to X tons. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a perceptible expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 73% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons, and then dropped remarkably in the following year.
In value terms, dolomite exports rose significantly to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, recorded a prominent expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 47%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.
Exports by Country
The United Arab Emirates (X tons), China (X tons), Thailand (X tons) and the Philippines (X tons) represented roughly 91% of total exports in 2021. South Korea (X tons) took a little share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for the United Arab Emirates (with a CAGR of +12.2%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X), China ($X) and Thailand ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined 75% share of total exports. These countries were followed by South Korea and the Philippines, which together accounted for a further 13%.
South Korea, with a CAGR of +12.5%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 41% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.3%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($X per ton), while the Philippines ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Philippines (+2.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Dolomite imports surged to X tons in 2021, jumping by 25% on the previous year. Total imports indicated perceptible growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -3.2% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 58% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, dolomite imports surged to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a modest increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The level of import peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
India represented the key importing country with an import of around X tons, which recorded 50% of total imports. Japan (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons), Indonesia (X tons) and China (X tons). All these countries together held near 45% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Indonesia (with a CAGR of +89.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest dolomite importing markets in Asia were China ($X), India ($X) and Japan ($X), with a combined 84% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Taiwan (Chinese) and Indonesia, which together accounted for a further 8.2%.
Indonesia, with a CAGR of +68.5%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Asia amounted to $X per ton, surging by 16% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a perceptible setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 23% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while India ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
