Domestic Toaster Market Size in Asia
The Asian domestic toaster market expanded rapidly to $X in 2022, increasing by 6% against the previous year. The total consumption indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, consumption increased by +102.3% against 2013 indices. Over the period under review, the market attained the maximum level in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
Domestic Toaster Production in Asia
In value terms, domestic toaster production shrank modestly to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. The total production indicated a temperate expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, production increased by +1.2% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the production volume increased by 27%. Over the period under review, production reached the maximum level at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, production remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, after five years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of domestic electric toasters, when their volume decreased by -31% to X units. Overall, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 34% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X units in 2021, and then contracted significantly in the following year.
In value terms, domestic toaster exports dropped markedly to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 28% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2021, and then contracted dramatically in the following year.
Exports by Country
The shipments of the one major exporters of domestic electric toasters, namely China, represented more than two-thirds of total export.
China experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of domestic electric toasters. The shares of the largest exporters remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, China ($X) also remains the largest domestic toaster supplier in Asia.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in China was relatively modest.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Asia stood at $X per unit in 2022, increasing by 2.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 23% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2017 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for China.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for China amounted to +0.2% per year.

Imports in Asia
After three years of growth, purchases abroad of domestic electric toasters decreased by -27.8% to X units in 2022. Overall, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 29% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units, and then reduced rapidly in the following year.
In value terms, domestic toaster imports contracted sharply to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a slight increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 28%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then dropped significantly in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Japan (X units) represented the main importer of domestic electric toasters, creating 48% of total imports. India (X units) took an 11% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by the United Arab Emirates (9%) and Malaysia (4.9%). South Korea (X units), Iraq (X units), Thailand (X units), Hong Kong SAR (X units) and the Philippines (X units) took a little share of total imports.
Japan experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of domestic electric toasters. At the same time, Iraq (+39.0%), Malaysia (+3.0%) and the United Arab Emirates (+1.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Iraq emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Asia, with a CAGR of +39.0% from 2012-2022. South Korea experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, India (-1.2%), the Philippines (-1.9%), Thailand (-3.9%) and Hong Kong SAR (-8.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Japan (+2.8 p.p.) and Iraq (+2.6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Hong Kong SAR saw its share reduced by -3.1% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Japan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported domestic electric toasters in Asia, comprising 53% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by India ($X), with a 7.4% share of total imports. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates, with a 7.4% share.
In Japan, domestic toaster imports increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: India (+1.3% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (+2.8% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in Asia amounted to $X per unit, approximately mirroring the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.6%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 an increase of 16% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2021 to 2022, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per unit), while Thailand ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Philippines (+6.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
