The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 16%. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, microwave oven imports expanded modestly to $X in 2022. From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to microwave oven imports into Japan stood at +2.6%. At the same time, Uzbekistan (+61.1%), Iraq (+23.9%), South Korea (+11.3%), the Philippines (+9.8%), Taiwan (Chinese) (+4.8%), India (+4.2%), Malaysia (+3.4%) and the United Arab Emirates (+1.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Asia, with a CAGR of +61.1% from 2012-2022. Israel and Turkey experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Kazakhstan (-1.4%) and Thailand (-16.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Japan (+10 p.p.), South Korea (+7.4 p.p.), India (+3.4 p.p.), the Philippines (+2.5 p.p.), Iraq (+2.2 p.p.) and Uzbekistan (+1.5 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Thailand (-26.6 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Japan ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported microwave ovens in Asia, comprising 43% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by South Korea ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by India, with a 7.7% share.
In Japan, microwave oven imports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: South Korea (+12.7% per year) and India (+4.1% per year).
