As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, duck and goose meat exports stood at $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports showed a temperate increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 92% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Hong Kong SAR prevails in imports structure, reaching X tons, which was approx. 52% of total imports in 2022. Japan (X tons) held a 9.5% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Iraq (7.3%) and Macao SAR (5%). Singapore (X tons), Kyrgyzstan (X tons), Israel (X tons), Tajikistan (X tons), the United Arab Emirates (X tons), China (X tons) and Cambodia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to duck and goose meat imports into Hong Kong SAR stood at -2.6%. At the same time, Cambodia (+46.2%), Kyrgyzstan (+41.7%), Iraq (+17.1%), Singapore (+16.6%), Israel (+9.8%), Japan (+5.0%) and Macao SAR (+2.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Cambodia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Asia, with a CAGR of +46.2% from 2012-2022. Tajikistan experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, the United Arab Emirates (-1.1%) and China (-4.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Iraq (+5.8 p.p.), Japan (+3.6 p.p.), Singapore (+2.8 p.p.), Kyrgyzstan (+2.5 p.p.), Cambodia (+2 p.p.) and Israel (+1.5 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Hong Kong SAR saw its share reduced by -15.9% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Hong Kong SAR ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported duck and goose meat in Asia, comprising 54% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Japan ($X), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by Israel, with a 6.1% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Hong Kong SAR stood at +3.6%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Japan (-4.9% per year) and Israel (+4.6% per year).
