In 2021, the export price in Asia amounted to $X per unit, declining by -25.2% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a dramatic decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 206%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2016 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Overall, imports continue to indicate a noticeable curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 72% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, electric locomotive imports fell modestly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 207% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Singapore (X units), distantly followed by Indonesia (X units), Kazakhstan (X units), Israel (X units) and Bangladesh (X units) represented the key importers of electric locomotives, together mixing up 92% of total imports. Lao People's Democratic Republic (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Israel (with a CAGR of +100.8%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Singapore ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported electric locomotives in Asia, comprising 30% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kazakhstan ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by Israel, with a 10% share.
