Among the main exporting countries, South Korea, with a CAGR of +33.4%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the export price in Asia amounted to $X per unit, stabilizing at the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the export price increased by 44%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2018 to 2021, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per unit), while Japan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 43%. In value terms, China ($X), Saudi Arabia ($X) and Kuwait ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 42% share of total imports. The United Arab Emirates, Taiwan (Chinese), Hong Kong SAR, Japan, Mongolia, South Korea, the Philippines, Vietnam, India and Azerbaijan lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 38%.

Taiwan (Chinese), with a CAGR of +32.5%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in Asia amounted to $X per unit, declining by -4.7% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.2%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 an increase of 15%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit, and then shrank in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($X per unit), while Azerbaijan ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mongolia (+20.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
