As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Total imports indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.3% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. China (X tons) and South Korea (X tons) were the main importers of fluoropolymers in 2021, accounting for near 29% and 20% of total imports, respectively. Japan (X tons) took the next position in the ranking, followed by Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons), India (X tons) and Indonesia (X tons). All these countries together took near 29% share of total imports. Vietnam (X tons), Thailand (X tons), Turkey (X tons), Singapore (X tons), Malaysia (X tons) and Hong Kong SAR (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Indonesia (with a CAGR of +46.3%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, China ($X), South Korea ($X) and Japan ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 64% share of total imports. Taiwan (Chinese), India, Vietnam, Thailand, Turkey, Singapore, Hong Kong SAR, Malaysia and Indonesia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 34%.

Indonesia, with a CAGR of +31.5%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 14% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.2%. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per ton), while Indonesia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (+4.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
