Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Thailand (X tons) and China (X tons) represented the main exporters of prepared dishes and meals in 2021, amounting to near 22% and 18% of total exports, respectively. Malaysia (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total exports with a 9.6% share, followed by Indonesia (9.6%), Singapore (9.4%), South Korea (5.9%) and Taiwan (Chinese) (5.2%). India (X tons), Turkey (X tons), Japan (X tons), Sri Lanka (X tons) and Vietnam (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Sri Lanka (with a CAGR of +25.1%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Singapore ($X) remains the largest prepared dish and meal supplier in Asia, comprising 37% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by China ($X), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by Thailand, with a 7.7% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Singapore stood at +34.7%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: China (+11.3% per year) and Thailand (+4.9% per year).

The export price in Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, standing approx. at the previous year. Export price indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.4% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, prepared dish and meal export price increased by +47.9% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 39%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2020, and then dropped in the following year.

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.5% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, prepared dish and meal imports soared to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +9.1% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +118.2% against 2012 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Japan (X tons) and China (X tons) represented roughly 23% of total imports in 2021. Singapore (X tons) held the next position in the ranking, followed by the Philippines (X tons), the United Arab Emirates (X tons), Malaysia (X tons), Thailand (X tons) and Vietnam (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 32% share of total imports. The following importers - Turkey (X tons), South Korea (X tons), Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons), Indonesia (X tons) and Myanmar (X tons) - each amounted to a 20% share of total imports.

In terms of the main importing countries, China, with a CAGR of +21.2%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
