Exports from India increased at an average annual rate of +4.1% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, the Philippines (+199.7%), South Korea (+14.6%) and Turkey (+1.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the Philippines emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia, with a CAGR of +199.7% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Thailand (-1.1%), Malaysia (-4.1%) and China (-18.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. India (+27 p.p.), the Philippines (+6.7 p.p.) and South Korea (+6.1 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while China saw its share reduced by -43.3% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Thailand ($X), India ($X) and South Korea ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined 62% share of total exports. China, the Philippines, Malaysia and Turkey lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 28%.

The Philippines, with a CAGR of +199.5%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in Asia amounted to $X per ton, rising by 31% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.8%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($X per ton), while India ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (+16.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, supplies from abroad of safety fuses, detonating fuses and electric detonators decreased by -1.9% to X tons, falling for the third year in a row after three years of growth. Overall, imports continue to indicate a perceptible setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 13%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, the import price in Asia amounted to $X per ton, growing by 15% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +5.5%. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per ton), while Lao People's Democratic Republic ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+17.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
