All these countries together took approx. 24% share of total imports. Turkey (X tons), Vietnam (X tons), China (X tons), Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons), Nepal (X tons), Kazakhstan (X tons) and Iraq (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

While the share of Saudi Arabia (+4.6 p.p.), Qatar (+3.4 p.p.), China (+3.4 p.p.), Vietnam (+2.7 p.p.) and Nepal (+2.3 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Taiwan (Chinese) (-1.6 p.p.), Iraq (-2.1 p.p.), Turkey (-2.1 p.p.) and Japan (-7.6 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest granite building stone importing markets in Asia were South Korea ($X), Japan ($X) and Vietnam ($X), together accounting for 63% of total imports. These countries were followed by Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Kazakhstan, Nepal, Iraq, Taiwan (Chinese) and China, which together accounted for a further 21%.

In terms of the main importing countries, Nepal, with a CAGR of +51.5%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 6.3% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
