In value terms, grapefruit juice (single strength) exports expanded to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, saw a abrupt setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when exports increased by 12% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Israel prevails in exports structure, amounting to X tons, which was near 80% of total exports in 2021. Nepal (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Cyprus (X tons). All these countries together took approx. 15% share of total exports.
Exports from Israel decreased at an average annual rate of -11.4% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Nepal (+12.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Nepal emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia, with a CAGR of +12.5% from 2012-2021. Cyprus experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Nepal and Cyprus increased by +6.7 and +4.4 percentage points, respectively.
In value terms, Israel ($X) remains the largest grapefruit juice (single strength) supplier in Asia, comprising 85% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Nepal ($X), with a 4.8% share of total exports.
In Israel, grapefruit juice (single strength) exports plunged by an average annual rate of -6.7% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Nepal (+7.7% per year) and Cyprus (+0.7% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, remaining stable against the previous year. Export price indicated temperate growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.6% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, grapefruit juice (single strength) export price decreased by -8.9% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the export price increased by 49% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per ton), while Cyprus ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Imports in Asia
In 2021, the amount of grapefruit juice (single strength) imported in Asia surged to X tons, growing by 41% on the previous year. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, grapefruit juice (single strength) imports soared to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.7% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
China represented the key importing country with an import of around X tons, which resulted at 41% of total imports. South Korea (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by India (X tons) and Japan (X tons). All these countries together took approx. 42% share of total imports. The following importers - Jordan (X tons), Hong Kong SAR (X tons) and Kazakhstan (X tons) - together made up 7.4% of total imports.
Imports into China increased at an average annual rate of +28.3% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, India (+39.5%), South Korea (+32.5%), Kazakhstan (+8.8%) and Jordan (+6.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, India emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Asia, with a CAGR of +39.5% from 2012-2021. Hong Kong SAR experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Japan (-16.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. China (+36 p.p.), South Korea (+16 p.p.) and India (+14 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Japan saw its share reduced by -44.7% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, China ($X), South Korea ($X) and Japan ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 78% share of total imports. India, Hong Kong SAR, Jordan and Kazakhstan lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 13%.
India, with a CAGR of +38.9%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, dropping by -4.5% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the import price increased by 14%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2020, and then contracted modestly in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per ton), while Jordan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
