The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 62% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The biggest shipments were from Pakistan (X tons), Turkey (X tons) and India (X tons), together recording 92% of total export. The following exporters - Oman (X tons) and South Korea (X tons) - each amounted to a 3.6% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Oman (with a CAGR of +88.9%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest non-wheat groats supplying countries in Asia were Turkey ($X), India ($X) and Pakistan ($X), together accounting for 82% of total exports. These countries were followed by South Korea and Oman, which together accounted for a further 6.9%.
In terms of the main exporting countries, Oman, with a CAGR of +67.5%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the export price in Asia amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 2% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw a abrupt shrinkage. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Overall, imports saw a slight expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 46% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, non-wheat groats imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, recorded a noticeable curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 42% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Saudi Arabia represented the major importer of groats and meal of cereals (excluding wheat) in Asia, with the volume of imports accounting for X tons, which was near 37% of total imports in 2021. Afghanistan (X tons) took a 19% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Iraq (8.2%), Israel (5.8%) and Thailand (4.8%). The following importers - Yemen (X tons), Indonesia (X tons), Lebanon (X tons) and Jordan (X tons) - together made up 10% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Thailand (with a CAGR of +73.5%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Saudi Arabia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported groats and meal of cereals (excluding wheat) in Asia, comprising 33% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Israel ($X), with a 9.1% share of total imports. It was followed by Iraq, with an 8.9% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Saudi Arabia stood at +40.7%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Israel (-5.1% per year) and Iraq (-0.1% per year).

The import price in Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, falling by -2.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a noticeable reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 5.2% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
