Imports into the Philippines increased at an average annual rate of +21.7% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Myanmar (+58.8%), India (+17.8%), Bangladesh (+14.2%), China (+10.6%) and Japan (+1.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Myanmar emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Asia, with a CAGR of +58.8% from 2012-2022. Iraq and Thailand experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Yemen (-4.4%), the United Arab Emirates (-5.6%), Kazakhstan (-8.3%), Hong Kong SAR (-11.2%) and Indonesia (-12.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The Philippines (+30 p.p.), India (+4.9 p.p.), Bangladesh (+4.5 p.p.) and Myanmar (+1.6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Kazakhstan, the United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong SAR and Indonesia saw its share reduced by -2.1%, -4%, -10.9% and -11.9% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest hard plastic comb importing markets in Asia were Japan ($X), China ($X) and the Philippines ($X), together accounting for 38% of total imports.

The Philippines, with a CAGR of +33.1%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the import price in Asia amounted to $X per ton, falling by -18.2% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern.
