Lead Market Size in Asia

The Asian lead market dropped slightly to $X in 2022, which is down by -3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. In value terms, lead exports declined modestly to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.3% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +37.2% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 37%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, leveling off in the following year.

In 2022, South Korea (X tons), distantly followed by India (X tons), China (X tons), Kazakhstan (X tons), Malaysia (X tons) and the United Arab Emirates (X tons) represented the main exporters of lead, together generating 71% of total exports. The following exporters - Japan (X tons), Saudi Arabia (X tons), Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons), Vietnam (X tons), Lebanon (X tons) and Pakistan (X tons) - together made up 15% of total exports.

The export price in Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, with a decrease of -2.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the export price increased by 19%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 11%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
