While the share of Thailand (+20 p.p.), China (+6.7 p.p.), Turkey (+3.3 p.p.), the United Arab Emirates (+3.2 p.p.) and Iraq (+1.9 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Taiwan (Chinese) (-2.5 p.p.), India (-4.1 p.p.), Saudi Arabia (-5.8 p.p.) and Hong Kong SAR (-9.7 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest sheep, goat, swine or reptile leather supplying countries in Asia were India ($X), China ($X) and Turkey ($X), together comprising 44% of total exports. These countries were followed by Pakistan, Thailand, Hong Kong SAR, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan (Chinese), the United Arab Emirates, Iraq and Iran, which together accounted for a further 27%.
Thailand, with a CAGR of +6.3%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
