Over the period under review, exports posted a resilient expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 45%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, filling containers machinery exports expanded markedly to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.5% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +68.5% against 2016 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by 19% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

China prevails in exports structure, finishing at X units, which was approx. 74% of total exports in 2021. India (X units) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Taiwan (Chinese) (X units). All these countries together held approx. 10% share of total exports. Japan (X units), Israel (X units), Turkey (X units) and South Korea (X units) took a relatively small share of total exports.

China was also the fastest-growing in terms of the machinery for filling, closing, sealing, capsuling or labelling containers exports, with a CAGR of +15.4% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Turkey (+13.0%), Israel (+8.3%), South Korea (+4.9%) and India (+2.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Japan experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Taiwan (Chinese) (-2.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. China (+25 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while India, Japan and Taiwan (Chinese) saw its share reduced by -4.3%, -5.1% and -10.4% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest filling containers machinery supplier in Asia, comprising 56% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Japan ($X), with a 12% share of total exports. It was followed by Israel, with an 8.1% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in China stood at +12.2%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Japan (-0.7% per year) and Israel (+11.0% per year).

In 2021, the export price in Asia amounted to $X per unit, remaining constant against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a noticeable downturn. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2021, the import price in Asia amounted to $X per unit, declining by -2.3% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a pronounced decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 7.8%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($X per unit), while Hong Kong SAR ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
