Indonesia (X units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Singapore (X units), India (X units) and the United Arab Emirates (X units). All these countries together held approx. 48% share of total exports. The following exporters - South Korea (X units) and Turkey (X units) - together made up 7% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for the United Arab Emirates (with a CAGR of +20.8%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, tobacco making machinery imports rose markedly to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a perceptible slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 66% against the previous year. From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Uzbekistan (with a CAGR of +535.0%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X), China ($X) and Singapore ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together accounting for 53% of total imports. Indonesia, South Korea, Uzbekistan, the Philippines, Turkey, Vietnam, Kyrgyzstan, India, Myanmar and Nepal lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 28%.

Uzbekistan, with a CAGR of +521.8%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in Asia amounted to $X per unit, reducing by -12.4% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 37%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per unit), while Myanmar ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
