From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, marble and travertine exports totaled $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, showed a mild reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 29%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Turkey prevails in exports structure, recording X tons, which was near 74% of total exports in 2021. Iran (X tons) held a 9% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by India (4.7%) and Pakistan (4.7%). The following exporters - Oman (X tons) and Cambodia (X tons) - each amounted to a 3.2% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to marble and travertine exports from Turkey stood at -2.3%. At the same time, Cambodia (+171.8%), Oman (+2.2%) and India (+1.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Cambodia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia, with a CAGR of +171.8% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Pakistan (-1.6%) and Iran (-2.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Cambodia (+1.6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Turkey saw its share reduced by -1.9% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Turkey ($X) remains the largest marble and travertine supplier in Asia, comprising 75% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Iran ($X), with an 11% share of total exports. It was followed by India, with a 4.5% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Turkey totaled -1.8%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Iran (-1.2% per year) and India (+1.1% per year).

The export price in Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, falling by -5.2% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 an increase of 6.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

After three years of decline, supplies from abroad of marble and travertine increased by 27% to X tons in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a perceptible shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 72% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, marble and travertine imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, China (X tons) was the major importer of marble and travertine, constituting 78% of total imports. It was distantly followed by India (X tons), committing a 12% share of total imports. Jordan (X tons) held a relatively small share of total imports.
