Taiwan (Chinese) was the major exporting country with an export of around X units, which finished at 62% of total exports. Japan (X units) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 13% share, followed by China (9.7%) and Israel (4.6%). India (X units), Hong Kong SAR (X units) and South Korea (X units) took a little share of total exports.
Taiwan (Chinese) was also the fastest-growing in terms of the marine or river navigation instruments and appliances exports, with a CAGR of +30.1% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, India (+23.8%), Israel (+11.0%), South Korea (+4.3%) and China (+3.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Japan (-4.3%) and Hong Kong SAR (-7.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Taiwan (Chinese) (+49 p.p.) and India (+2.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of China (-5.8 p.p.), Hong Kong SAR (-8.3 p.p.) and Japan (-29.5 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Taiwan (Chinese) ($X) remains the largest marine GPS navigator supplier in Asia, comprising 44% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Japan ($X), with an 18% share of total exports. It was followed by Israel, with a 14% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Taiwan (Chinese) stood at +32.8%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Japan (-4.2% per year) and Israel (+14.4% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in Asia amounted to $X per unit, with an increase of 2.6% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a mild decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when the export price increased by 24%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2016 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per unit), while China ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

Over the period under review, imports showed a pronounced decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 17% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, marine GPS navigator imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 18% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

China represented the key importer of marine or river navigation instruments and appliances in Asia, with the volume of imports accounting for X units, which was approx. 29% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by South Korea (X units), Turkey (X units), the United Arab Emirates (X units), Indonesia (X units) and Japan (X units), together comprising a 46% share of total imports. Singapore (X units), Vietnam (X units), Taiwan (Chinese) (X units), India (X units), Turkmenistan (X units), Hong Kong SAR (X units) and Malaysia (X units) held a relatively small share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to marine GPS navigator imports into China stood at +12.7%. At the same time, Turkmenistan (+20.1%), India (+17.0%), Turkey (+13.5%), the United Arab Emirates (+10.9%) and Vietnam (+2.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Turkmenistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Asia, with a CAGR of +20.1% from 2012-2021. By contrast, South Korea (-3.0%), Japan (-5.3%), Taiwan (Chinese) (-6.5%), Malaysia (-9.4%), Indonesia (-9.4%), Singapore (-13.1%) and Hong Kong SAR (-29.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of China (+21 p.p.), Turkey (+8.5 p.p.), the United Arab Emirates (+6.9 p.p.), India (+2.4 p.p.) and Turkmenistan (+2.1 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Indonesia (-5.7 p.p.), Singapore (-6.2 p.p.) and Hong Kong SAR (-29 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, South Korea ($X), China ($X) and the United Arab Emirates ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together accounting for 56% of total imports. These countries were followed by Japan, Turkey, Singapore, Vietnam, India, Turkmenistan, Taiwan (Chinese), Hong Kong SAR, Indonesia and Malaysia, which together accounted for a further 36%.
Vietnam, with a CAGR of +11.6%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Asia amounted to $X per unit, with an increase of 47% against the previous year. Import price indicated a moderate increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.7% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, marine GPS navigator import price increased by +57.9% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the import price increased by 52%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2015 to 2021, the import prices failed to regain momentum.
