The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, dried mushroom imports fell notably to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a moderate expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 49%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Vietnam (X tons) and Hong Kong SAR (X tons) represented the major importers of dried mushrooms and truffles in Asia, together accounting for near 51% of total imports. Malaysia (X tons) took the next position in the ranking, followed by Thailand (X tons), Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) and Japan (X tons). All these countries together took near 38% share of total imports. South Korea (X tons) took a relatively small share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Vietnam (with a CAGR of +21.6%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 15%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($X per ton), while Hong Kong SAR ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
