The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports decreased by -37.5% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 30%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X litres in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, non-alcoholic beverage, not containing milk exports declined remarkably to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when exports increased by 20% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2021, and then shrank significantly in the following year.

In 2022, Thailand (X litres) was the largest exporter of non-alcoholic beverages, not containing milk, constituting 27% of total exports. South Korea (X litres) took the second position in the ranking, followed by China (X litres), Lao People's Democratic Republic (X litres), Malaysia (X litres), Taiwan (Chinese) (X litres) and Saudi Arabia (X litres). All these countries together held near 47% share of total exports. Japan (X litres), Singapore (X litres), Vietnam (X litres), Hong Kong SAR (X litres), Nepal (X litres) and Bangladesh (X litres) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to non-alcoholic beverage, not containing milk exports from Thailand stood at +5.1%. At the same time, Lao People's Democratic Republic (+26.9%), Bangladesh (+26.2%), Japan (+17.5%), Vietnam (+14.3%), China (+6.5%), South Korea (+5.8%), Hong Kong SAR (+3.1%), Nepal (+2.2%), Saudi Arabia (+2.2%) and Singapore (+1.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Lao People's Democratic Republic emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia, with a CAGR of +26.9% from 2012-2022. Taiwan (Chinese) and Malaysia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. Lao People's Democratic Republic (+7.3 p.p.), Japan (+3 p.p.), Bangladesh (+1.8 p.p.) and Vietnam (+1.7 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Saudi Arabia, Taiwan (Chinese) and Malaysia saw its share reduced by -1.6%, -3% and -5.2% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Thailand ($X), South Korea ($X) and Japan ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, with a combined 49% share of total exports. Taiwan (Chinese), China, Lao People's Democratic Republic, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong SAR, Vietnam, Singapore, Nepal and Bangladesh lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 44%.
Among the main exporting countries, Bangladesh, with a CAGR of +28.1%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in Asia amounted to $X per litre, growing by 12% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the export price increased by 24%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per litre), while Bangladesh ($X per litre) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Taiwan (Chinese) (+5.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +29.0% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 28%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

Taiwan (Chinese) (X litres) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Cambodia (with a CAGR of +34.0%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest non-alcoholic beverage, not containing milk importing markets in Asia were China ($X), Cambodia ($X) and Hong Kong SAR ($X), with a combined 37% share of total imports.
Cambodia, with a CAGR of +45.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Asia stood at $X per litre in 2022, picking up by 10% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.2%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 an increase of 10% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in years to come.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($X per litre), while Singapore ($X per litre) was amongst the lowest.
