China represented the major exporter of non-cellular polypropylene films, sheets, foil and strip in Asia, with the volume of exports resulting at X tons, which was near 30% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by India (X tons), Turkey (X tons), Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons), Indonesia (X tons), Saudi Arabia (X tons), Malaysia (X tons) and South Korea (X tons), together committing a 50% share of total exports. At the same time, Saudi Arabia (+10.2%), India (+8.6%), Malaysia (+6.4%), Turkey (+6.3%), Japan (+2.9%), Taiwan (Chinese) (+2.8%), Indonesia (+2.6%), Oman (+2.4%), Vietnam (+2.1%) and South Korea (+1.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Saudi Arabia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia, with a CAGR of +10.2% from 2012-2021. Thailand experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, the United Arab Emirates (-1.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. China (+6.2 p.p.), India (+3.8 p.p.), Saudi Arabia (+2.1 p.p.) and Turkey (+1.7 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the United Arab Emirates and Thailand saw its share reduced by -1.8% and -1.9% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest non-cellular polypropylene film supplier in Asia, comprising 27% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Turkey ($X), with a 13% share of total exports. It was followed by India, with an 11% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in China amounted to +7.3%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Turkey (+5.9% per year) and India (+9.3% per year).

As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period.
