The Asian non-domestic dryer market reduced to $X in 2021, with a decrease of -7.1% against the previous year. Overall, consumption showed a slight downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 5.3%. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, consumption failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, non-domestic dryer exports soared to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a pronounced expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.7% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2021, China (X units) represented the main exporter of non-domestic dryers, creating 73% of total exports. South Korea (X units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Turkey (X units). All these countries together held approx. 17% share of total exports. The following exporters - Taiwan (Chinese) (X units) and Japan (X units) - each finished at a 6% share of total exports.

China was also the fastest-growing in terms of the non-domestic dryers exports, with a CAGR of +18.8% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, South Korea (+10.4%) and Turkey (+6.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Taiwan (Chinese) (-2.0%) and Japan (-11.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of China (+36 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Turkey (-2.1 p.p.), Taiwan (Chinese) (-6 p.p.) and Japan (-16.9 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest non-domestic dryer supplier in Asia, comprising 58% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by South Korea ($X), with a 15% share of total exports. It was followed by Japan, with a 9% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in China stood at +8.6%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: South Korea (+15.2% per year) and Japan (-10.1% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Asia stood at $X per unit in 2021, reducing by -12.5% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the export price increased by 20% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per unit), while Turkey ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, purchases abroad of non-domestic dryers decreased by -6% to X units, falling for the third consecutive year after two years of growth. In general, imports recorded a slight descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 15%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, non-domestic dryer imports expanded significantly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 12% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

China (X units) and Indonesia (X units) represented roughly 29% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by India (X units), Turkey (X units), Vietnam (X units), Bangladesh (X units), Japan (X units) and Taiwan (Chinese) (X units), together committing a 39% share of total imports. South Korea (X units), the United Arab Emirates (X units), Thailand (X units), Singapore (X units) and Malaysia (X units) held a minor share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Bangladesh (with a CAGR of +30.1%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, China ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported non-domestic dryers in Asia, comprising 26% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by India ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by Vietnam, with an 8.7% share.

In China, non-domestic dryer imports declined by an average annual rate of -4.4% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: India (+8.5% per year) and Vietnam (+9.4% per year).
