In value terms, Vietnam ($X), China ($X) and India ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, together accounting for 76% of total exports. South Korea and the United Arab Emirates lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 21%.

In terms of the main exporting countries, South Korea, with a CAGR of +50.3%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in Asia stood at $X per ton in 2022, with an increase of 28% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a perceptible increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the export price increased by 110% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2020 to 2022, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while Vietnam ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Moreover, South Korea emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Asia, with a CAGR of +154.4% from 2012-2022. While the share of Japan (+16 p.p.), Singapore (+7.2 p.p.), the United Arab Emirates (+6.8 p.p.), South Korea (+6 p.p.), Hong Kong SAR (+2.3 p.p.), Turkey (+2.2 p.p.) and Brunei Darussalam (+2.1 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of China (-37.9 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, China ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported frozen norway lobsters in Asia, comprising 40% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Japan ($X), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates, with a 10% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in China amounted to +4.3%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Japan (+81.6% per year) and the United Arab Emirates (+22.0% per year).
