Japan (X tons) took an 8.8% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Indonesia (4.9%). India (X tons) held a relatively small share of total exports.
Exports from China increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, India (+13.7%), Japan (+10.7%) and Indonesia (+2.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, India emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia, with a CAGR of +13.7% from 2012-2021. While the share of Japan (+3.7 p.p.) and India (+2.1 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of China (-3.1 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest nucleic acid supplier in Asia, comprising 58% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Japan ($X), with a 21% share of total exports. It was followed by India, with a 10% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in China stood at +10.8%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Japan (+11.0% per year) and India (+18.6% per year).

In 2021, India (X tons), distantly followed by China (X tons), Japan (X tons), Thailand (X tons), South Korea (X tons), Vietnam (X tons), Turkey (X tons), Indonesia (X tons) and Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) were the main importers of nucleic acids and their salts, together generating 87% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for India (with a CAGR of +18.4%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Japan ($X), India ($X) and China ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together comprising 63% of total imports. South Korea, Turkey, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam and Taiwan (Chinese) lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 24%.
Vietnam, with a CAGR of +17.1%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the import price in Asia amounted to $X per ton, waning by -14.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a pronounced contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 12%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
