In value terms, skin organic surface-active products exports expanded sharply to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, recorded a resilient expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 36% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In 2021, China (X tons), distantly followed by Thailand (X tons), Japan (X tons), Turkey (X tons), South Korea (X tons), Malaysia (X tons) and Indonesia (X tons) were the major exporters of organic surface-active products for washing the skin, together creating 80% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to skin organic surface-active products exports from China stood at +3.9%. At the same time, South Korea (+38.2%), Japan (+30.9%), Indonesia (+19.3%), Malaysia (+17.2%), Thailand (+10.6%) and Turkey (+3.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, South Korea emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia, with a CAGR of +38.2% from 2012-2021. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Japan ($X) remains the largest skin organic surface-active products supplier in Asia, comprising 35% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by South Korea ($X), with a 16% share of total exports. It was followed by China, with an 11% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Japan totaled +30.8%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: South Korea (+43.8% per year) and China (+7.7% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in Asia amounted to $X per ton, surging by 33% against the previous year. Export price indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +7.5% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the export price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per ton), while Turkey ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (+4.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Skin organic surface-active products imports skyrocketed to X tons in 2021, increasing by 30% on 2020. Over the period under review, imports recorded a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when imports increased by 32%. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, skin organic surface-active products imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, imports enjoyed a significant expansion. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2021, China (X tons) was the largest importer of organic surface-active products for washing the skin, making up 35% of total imports. At the same time, Vietnam (+32.1%), Malaysia (+23.8%), Singapore (+22.2%), the Philippines (+20.3%), Saudi Arabia (+16.3%), the United Arab Emirates (+16.1%), Israel (+15.8%), South Korea (+13.5%), Kazakhstan (+10.2%), Japan (+8.5%), Turkey (+5.8%) and Taiwan (Chinese) (+2.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. From 2012 to 2021, the share of China, Vietnam, Singapore and Malaysia increased by +33, +2.6, +2.3 and +1.8 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, China ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported organic surface-active products for washing the skin in Asia, comprising 56% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Japan ($X), with a 5.2% share of total imports. It was followed by Singapore, with a 3.8% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in China amounted to +68.9%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Japan (+12.6% per year) and Singapore (+20.4% per year).
