Overall, exports posted a strong increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 242%. The volume of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, respiration apparatus exports contracted dramatically to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports showed significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 99%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then dropped rapidly in the following year.

In terms of the main exporting countries, Singapore, with a CAGR of +61.9%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price in Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, reducing by -28.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, enjoyed a strong increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 321% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2016 to 2021, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($X per ton), while Malaysia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In general, imports enjoyed a resilient expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 72% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

In value terms, respiration apparatus imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed prominent growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 65%. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.

India was the key importing country with an import of around X tons, which resulted at 32% of total imports. Indonesia (X tons) took an 8.9% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Singapore (7%), Japan (7%), Hong Kong SAR (4.7%), China (4.7%) and Thailand (4.6%). At the same time, Uzbekistan (+119.8%), Indonesia (+32.4%), Thailand (+17.7%), South Korea (+17.4%), Hong Kong SAR (+17.2%), the Philippines (+14.0%), Singapore (+7.1%), Turkey (+5.9%), Japan (+5.7%), Malaysia (+4.8%) and China (+3.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Uzbekistan emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Asia, with a CAGR of +119.8% from 2012-2021. Saudi Arabia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. While the share of India (+28 p.p.), Indonesia (+6.4 p.p.) and Uzbekistan (+1.9 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Malaysia (-2.6 p.p.), Turkey (-4.3 p.p.), Saudi Arabia (-5.4 p.p.), Singapore (-6.6 p.p.), China (-7.3 p.p.) and Japan (-8.2 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, India ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported ozone therapy, oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, respiration apparatus in Asia, comprising 31% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Japan ($X), with a 14% share of total imports. It was followed by China, with a 9.7% share.

In India, respiration apparatus imports expanded at an average annual rate of +39.1% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Japan (+4.2% per year) and China (+5.2% per year).

The import price in Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, flattening at the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a perceptible curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 an increase of 3%. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
