The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 59% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then contracted in the following year.
Exports by Country
In 2022, China (X tons) and Malaysia (X tons) were the largest exporters of aluminium alloy wire in Asia-Pacific, together achieving 65% of total exports. Japan (X tons) took an 11% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by India (11%) and Vietnam (7.5%). Thailand (X tons) held a little share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Thailand (with a CAGR of +56.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest aluminium alloy wire supplier in Asia-Pacific, comprising 48% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Malaysia ($X), with an 18% share of total exports. It was followed by Japan, with a 13% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in China amounted to +7.4%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Malaysia (+12.7% per year) and Japan (+4.2% per year).

In 2022, the export price in Asia-Pacific amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 6.1% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 15% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while Malaysia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

After three years of growth, purchases abroad of aluminium alloy wire decreased by -15.2% to X tons in 2022. Overall, imports, however, recorded a prominent expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 35% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons, and then reduced remarkably in the following year.
In value terms, aluminium alloy wire imports shrank to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +60.0% against 2014 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 42% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then shrank in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Cambodia (X tons), Malaysia (X tons), China (X tons), Japan (X tons), South Korea (X tons), Vietnam (X tons), Thailand (X tons), India (X tons), Indonesia (X tons) and Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) was the major importer of aluminium alloy wire in Asia-Pacific, creating 93% of total import.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Cambodia (with a CAGR of +47.6%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest aluminium alloy wire importing markets in Asia-Pacific were China ($X), Cambodia ($X) and Malaysia ($X), with a combined 44% share of total imports.
Cambodia, with a CAGR of +49.1%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in Asia-Pacific amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 9.3% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 9.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while Cambodia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
