The Asia-Pacific aluminium tube market shrank to $X in 2022, which is down by -2.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, consumption remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, overseas shipments of aluminium tubes and pipes decreased by -7.9% to X tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. In general, exports recorded a noticeable reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 80%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, aluminium tube exports totaled $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports showed a perceptible shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 48% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
China dominates exports structure, accounting for X tons, which was approx. 77% of total exports in 2022. Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 5.9% share, followed by South Korea (5.1%). Japan (X tons), Vietnam (X tons) and Thailand (X tons) held a minor share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to aluminium tube exports from China stood at +4.2%. At the same time, Vietnam (+36.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Vietnam emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia-Pacific, with a CAGR of +36.5% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Japan (-3.5%), Thailand (-4.5%), South Korea (-12.9%) and Taiwan (Chinese) (-13.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of China and Vietnam increased by +36 and +3.2 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest aluminium tube supplier in Asia-Pacific, comprising 62% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Taiwan (Chinese) ($X), with an 11% share of total exports. It was followed by South Korea, with a 9.3% share.
In China, aluminium tube exports increased at an average annual rate of +5.9% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Taiwan (Chinese) (-8.5% per year) and South Korea (-6.5% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Asia-Pacific stood at $X per ton in 2022, surging by 10% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a slight contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 20%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per ton), while Vietnam ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (+7.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Asia-Pacific
In 2022, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of aluminium tubes and pipes, when their volume decreased by -8.4% to X tons. Overall, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when imports increased by 24%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, aluminium tube imports reduced to $X in 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate a perceptible descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 28%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
The purchases of the seven major importers of aluminium tubes and pipes, namely Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, India, Vietnam, Bangladesh and the Philippines, represented more than two-thirds of total import. Indonesia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Cambodia (with a CAGR of +25.8%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Thailand ($X), Cambodia ($X) and the Philippines ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together comprising 38% of total imports.
Among the main importing countries, Cambodia, with a CAGR of +25.0%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Asia-Pacific stood at $X per ton in 2022, growing by 3.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a noticeable contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 9.5%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Philippines ($X per ton), while Bangladesh ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Philippines (+10.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
