Exports in Asia-Pacific

In 2022, amino resin exports in Asia-Pacific shrank modestly to X tons, which is down by -3.7% compared with 2021 figures. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed a remarkable increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 43% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons, and then shrank modestly in the following year.

In value terms, amino resin exports reduced modestly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw prominent growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 115% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then fell slightly in the following year.

Exports by Country

China was the major exporter of amino resins in Asia-Pacific, with the volume of exports finishing at X tons, which was near 64% of total exports in 2022. South Korea (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Japan (X tons). All these countries together took approx. 33% share of total exports.

China was also the fastest-growing in terms of the amino resins exports, with a CAGR of +16.1% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, South Korea (+4.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. In China, amino resin exports expanded at an average annual rate of +17.6% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: South Korea (+4.4% per year) and Japan (-0.7% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in Asia-Pacific amounted to $X per ton, approximately mirroring the previous year. In general, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the export price increased by 50%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($X per ton), while Japan ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Imports in Asia-Pacific

In 2022, supplies from abroad of amino resins decreased by -0.9% to X tons for the first time since 2016, thus ending a five-year rising trend. Total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +49.4% against 2016 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when imports increased by 35%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2021, and then dropped slightly in the following year.

In value terms, amino resin imports contracted to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +43.2% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 50% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then shrank in the following year.

Imports by Country

In 2022, China (X tons), distantly followed by India (X tons), South Korea (X tons), Vietnam (X tons), Thailand (X tons), Bangladesh (X tons) and Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) represented the key importers of amino resins, together constituting 81% of total imports. Malaysia (X tons) took a minor share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Thailand (with a CAGR of +30.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest amino resin importing markets in Asia-Pacific were China ($X), India ($X) and South Korea ($X), together accounting for 56% of total imports. Vietnam, Thailand, Taiwan (Chinese), Malaysia and Bangladesh lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 28%.

Thailand, with a CAGR of +26.9%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the import price in Asia-Pacific amounted to $X per ton, which is down by -3.5% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a slight curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 46% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was India ($X per ton), while Bangladesh ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (-0.5%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
