The Asia-Pacific antimony market shrank to $X in 2022, with a decrease of -7% against the previous year. In general, consumption, however, recorded a abrupt slump. Over the period under review, the market attained the peak level at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, consumption failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, exports of antimony in Asia-Pacific rose significantly to X tons, with an increase of 9.3% on 2021. Over the period under review, exports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 31% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, antimony exports soared to $X in 2022. Overall, exports posted a mild increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 63%. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

Exports by Country

China represented the main exporter of antimony in Asia-Pacific, with the volume of exports finishing at X tons, which was near 46% of total exports in 2022. Myanmar (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Thailand (X tons), Vietnam (X tons), South Korea (X tons) and India (X tons). All these countries together took approx. 51% share of total exports. Macao SAR (X tons) took a minor share of total exports.

Exports from China increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Macao SAR (+78.4%), Myanmar (+28.2%) and Thailand (+17.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Macao SAR emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Asia-Pacific, with a CAGR of +78.4% from 2012-2022. South Korea and Vietnam experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, India (-1.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Myanmar, Thailand, China and Macao SAR increased by +14, +9.3, +3.4 and +1.7 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest antimony supplier in Asia-Pacific, comprising 51% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Myanmar ($X), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by Vietnam, with a 14% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in China stood at +1.9%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Myanmar (+36.5% per year) and Vietnam (+2.9% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in Asia-Pacific amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 18% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the export price increased by 47%. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($X per ton), while Macao SAR ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (+17.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Asia-Pacific

In 2022, approx. X tons of antimony were imported in Asia-Pacific; which is down by -25.5% on the previous year. In general, imports saw a abrupt contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 21%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, antimony imports contracted to $X in 2022. Overall, imports saw a pronounced contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 105%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2022, Japan (X tons) was the largest importer of antimony, creating 46% of total imports. It was distantly followed by South Korea (X tons), India (X tons), China (X tons) and Thailand (X tons), together constituting a 45% share of total imports. Pakistan (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for China (with a CAGR of +34.2%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.

In value terms, the largest antimony importing markets in Asia-Pacific were Japan ($X), South Korea ($X) and India ($X), with a combined 81% share of total imports. China, Thailand and Pakistan lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 15%.

China, with a CAGR of +33.3%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in Asia-Pacific stood at $X per ton in 2022, growing by 32% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 70% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, major importing countries recorded the following prices: in China ($X per ton) and South Korea ($X per ton), while Pakistan ($X per ton) and Thailand ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
