Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was South Korea ($X per ton), while China amounted to $X per ton.

Imports in Asia-Pacific

For the tenth year in a row, Asia-Pacific recorded growth in overseas purchases of antisera and other blood fractions, which increased by 32% to X tons in 2021. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate resilient growth. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, antisera imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports recorded strong growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 22% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In 2021, China (X tons) represented the main importer of antisera and other blood fractions, committing 36% of total imports. Australia (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 21% share, followed by Japan (12%), South Korea (5.9%), Taiwan (Chinese) (5.2%) and Thailand (4.7%). India (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

The import price in Asia-Pacific stood at $X per ton in 2021, reducing by -12.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the import price increased by 18%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2020, and then shrank in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per ton), while Thailand ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
