In 2021, overseas shipments of apple juice (single strength) increased by 32% to X tons, rising for the second consecutive year after three years of decline. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 33% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, apple juice exports surged to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, saw a noticeable downturn. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Japan (X tons), Nepal (X tons) and Australia (X tons) represented roughly 63% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by New Zealand (X tons), Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons), Thailand (X tons), Singapore (X tons) and China (X tons), together mixing up a 29% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Thailand (with a CAGR of +58.2%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Japan ($X) remains the largest apple juice supplier in Asia-Pacific, comprising 49% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Australia ($X), with an 11% share of total exports. It was followed by New Zealand, with an 11% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Japan totaled +26.1%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Australia (-7.8% per year) and New Zealand (+25.1% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in Asia-Pacific amounted to $X per ton, growing by 6% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a mild decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the export price increased by 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per ton), while Nepal ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Thailand (+3.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in Asia-Pacific
In 2021, imports of apple juice (single strength) in Asia-Pacific surged to X tons, rising by 31% on 2020. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, apple juice imports soared to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated tangible growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.9% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +39.2% against 2017 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
China was the key importing country with an import of about X tons, which reached 34% of total imports. It was distantly followed by South Korea (X tons), Japan (X tons), Australia (X tons) and Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons), together making up a 41% share of total imports. The following importers - Hong Kong SAR (X tons), Singapore (X tons), Malaysia (X tons), New Caledonia (X tons), Vietnam (X tons), New Zealand (X tons), Maldives (X tons) and Sri Lanka (X tons) - together made up 18% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by China (with a CAGR of +30.3%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, China ($X), South Korea ($X) and Australia ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together accounting for 55% of total imports.
China, with a CAGR of +26.7%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in Asia-Pacific amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 13% against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.2%. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($X per ton), while Sri Lanka ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Singapore (+7.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
