Exports from China decreased at an average annual rate of -5.9% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Hong Kong SAR (+25.2%), South Korea (+13.7%) and Japan (+5.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. While the share of South Korea (+13 p.p.), Japan (+4.2 p.p.) and Hong Kong SAR (+2.7 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Taiwan (Chinese) (-6.3 p.p.) and China (-12 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($X), Japan ($X) and South Korea ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, with a combined 86% share of total exports. Hong Kong SAR, Taiwan (Chinese) and India lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 10%.

Hong Kong SAR, with a CAGR of +12.6%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in Asia-Pacific amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 22% against the previous year. Export price indicated a perceptible increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, carbon for electrical purposes export price increased by +68.5% against 2020 indices.
